Torres-Gómez & Colón-Ouslán, CPA, PSC  (TGCO or the Firm), is a Certified Public Accountants firm with license #241 to practice the CPA profession in the jurisdiction of Puerto Rico, issued by the Puerto Rico Board of Accountancy.

TGCO obtained its Tax Return Specialist Certification from the Puerto Rico Treasury Department; is a member of the Puerto Rico CPA Society and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and carries professional liability insurance and general liability insurance covering general accounting and tax services.  TGCO is part of the AICPA’s Peer Review Program.

Professional Experience

Mari Tere is one of the founding partners of TGCO.  She has more than 24 years of experience serving clients in the industries of financial services, hospitality, real estate, healthcare, energy and construction, non-for-profit, as well as in the sectors of government and consumer markets.  Aside from traditional audit, accounting and attestation, in which she has extensive experience, she performs many other specialized services including Federal Grant management advisory services, Project Management, internal audits, business accounting services, restructuring, SOX-related services, strategic planning, pension plans, and IT related services.

Before founding TGCO,  Mari Tere spent seven years at Rodríguez & Luis, C.P.A., P.S.C., where she serve the last three years as audit & consulting services director and ten years at KPMG LLP, where she served as audit senior manager.

Professional and Technical Designations

Mari Tere is a member of the Puerto Rico Society of CPAs, the AICPA, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She is also certified as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Mari Tere has been actively involved in various committees sponsored by the Puerto Rico Society of CPAs. She has also served as technical instructor in various seminars sponsored by the Puerto Rico Society of CPAs.

Education/Qualifications

Mari Tere is a CPA licensed in Puerto Rico. She has been certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA designation) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE designation). She is also certified as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).  Mari Tere graduated cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting. She attended her third year of college at the University of South Carolina as part of an exchange student program of the University of Puerto Rico.
